Macquarie Updated Info?

Happy new year folks. I wonder if anyone has insights on MacCap's NYC office in terms of deal flows/reputation/exits. Saw some old posts in 09 but nothing updated. Infra is def strong, what about other groups and how many interns do they take a year?

Interned for Macquarie Capital in summer 2020 and can confirm that the intern class size is ~50 students. MacCap has a very strong presence in infrastructure and casino/gaming, where the firm competes with BBs on deals. Other groups are growing quickly as well.

Culture is good. I can’t comment on most other banks, but the analysts I met didn’t hate their lives and were generally friendly. Overall, the firm is pretty underrated and is one of the better banks to work at, especially if you can get into a group with great deal flow.

Interned for MIRA in summer 2020, but from what my friends told about MacCap everything everyone said is pretty much correct. The bank is super underrated and aside from the small layoff everything else about the groups and divisions seems great. Also, work-life balance is always a plus but I'm sure live deals will have working some long hours even at Macquarie Capital.

Culture is good from what I can see. Other strong groups you should consider not mentioned above include the Services group (best on Wall Street in anything education), TMT group (just strong deal flow), and the principal investing group which is private equity and private credit (with probably higher pay than you would find at most PE or PC firms at the analyst and associate levels unless you go megafund PE)

I'd also add that the Lev Fin group is kinda interesting because they can give slightly more leverage than most US banks (I believe due to risk capital requirement differentials but not really sure). Lev Fin isn't my favorite area of finance since the work is kinda boring IMO, but Macquarie has a unique group for that relative to the rest of Wall Street if you're into that.

Have heard the culture good and there are a few strong groups, but not sure how they're currently faring in the US

infra/energy, lev fin, software, aero/defense has had a couple good ones. infra/energy has MF exits to their infra arms.

principal finance is in Maccap (the investment bank) and has great exits across the board such as Point72 Diameter and others if i recall correctly, may need to linkedin search to verify this
