BBs definitely sponsor international students for internships
Not true for EBs though.
Regardless of what BBs do, what should I do in this situation?
If you can, I'd definitely reach out to HR and let them know. It may not change anything, but why not try?
Why do you think it may not change anything?
Oh I just meant, if they didn't pick you for an interview for reasons other than the Visa issue, then having that cleared up wouldn't change anything. As in if they dinged you because of your resume/etc. But if you have a senior referral, yup I agree you should've had good chances for a 1st round interview, so best to check on the Visa thing.
Makes sense. Thanks @"asiamoney"
No prob, best of luck man
As others have said, should be good with the referral. As for future applications, if it's only an internship, answer yes to the 'are you authorized to work' question, and no to the 'will you now in the future require sponsorship' one. Yes to both if you're applying for FT. Source: another international student who had to go through the same pain in the ass.
What if you are applying for internships and plan to go for FT with the same firm. Do you still have to answer no to the "future" question?
Yes, same answer. That way they know they don't need to do anything for the summer, but will have to sponsor you should they want to take you for FT.
Were you successful doing so? I mean were you able to recruit FT at the same firm?
Also, how did you learn how to answer this question?
No, going to another firm for FT (different industry too). As for the question, it's just common sense. That's why they ask 2 separate questions instead of one.
