Marketing to Accredited Investors Help - Relationship between RIA and High Net Worth Individuals

Hi all,

I am interviewing for a marketing role with a company that sells a "gold-like" alternative asset to accredited investors only. One of its advantages over gold is it is less volatile. (I don't want to reveal the company name, so can't be more specific than that)

I am confused if marketing should be concentrated on high net worth individuals themselves, or the registered investment advisors (RIA)'s they work with?

In other words, is it much more common for RIA's to hear of a hot new fund and convince their clients to invest? Or is it more common for high net worth individuals themselves to hear about hot new funds and order the RIA's to invest? (or perhaps they invest directly without RIA involvement???)

I know no investor is the same, but for my purposes I am speaking in broad generalizations.

I'm just confused bc I've never had an "accredited investor" as an audience before. I need to develop specific user personas and not sure if they will primarily be RIA's or the rich people themselves.

Thanks.
