If you want to do M&A, go for an M&A or coverage group--the skills you'll learn in structured products are very different and provide substantially different exit ops (except possibly CMBS->REPE, but that's not all that common).
Edit: Purely out of curiosity, you wouldn't happen to have gotten the interview from GS REFG? I've heard strange things about their timing
