MD compensation
Have anyone seen a good compensation report that includes MD salary/bonus in NYC?
Lots of datapoints for ANL/ASO. Curious to see how things look if you stay for the long-term.

One year (I think 1~2yrs ago) a friend quickly showed me a page with MD median total comp at $1.5m. Total comps for juniors on that same page were pretty spot on for that year. I guess one caveat is you have a lot more variability at that level so some might get 3m and others can get f* all depending on how much they've brought in
Thanks! For which bank was that?
Can't say, it's a BB
$1-3mm is the number that's thrown around in general. The question is how much of that is cash - most of it in the case of elite boutiques and somewhat less in the case of bulge brackets.
I was chatting to an ED and he told me you're basically paid cash until you reach a $ threshold, and the rest is non-cash. E.g. if your total comp for the year is 700k then it could be 70/30 cash/deferred (I'm making these numbers up btw) and if its 3m then probably going to more 20/80 cash/deferred. I'm sure this varies a lot between banks
yup, that's true for everyone including associates once they hit that threshold. but yeah, a substantial portion is not only deferred, it vests over a period of years so at whichever point you leave the firm (if you leave), you leave money on the table. which is the point, I guess, to encourage people to stay.
