Miami IB or PE opportunities post-grad?

Hi everyone, I’m a UVA student interested in ending up in Miami post-grad. I’m minoring in Spanish alongside my major and trying to understand the IB/PE landscape in Miami early on.

I know UVA places at firms like iSquared and a few others in the area, but I’m curious whether starting directly in Miami is limiting long-term, or if it makes more sense to begin in NYC or Chicago for a couple years and then transition down.

Would appreciate any insight from people familiar with the Miami market. Thanks.

Thanks for your insight. Would you recommend a handful of years in NYC/Chicago IB then move to REPE in Miami? I’m thinking of real estate being my exit

Not too sure on REPE to be honest. Also take what I say with a grain of salt and do some research. It's just because I have a lot of family in Miami/ done internships in the 'financial district' there. I originally looked into IB and PE in Miami and from what I remember it's just LMM and maybe some MM firms. Additionally there's no "hustle" or real finance feel to the "Miami Financial District." It's literally all surrounded by water and less than 10 minutes from the beach, which is cool, but also not really the fast paced feel. Lastly it is very superficial the downtown district is surrounded by people revving Lamborghinis, Ferraris, random influencers trying to get you in an interview etc. so the vibe is just kind of weird. To each their own, but you can kind of get the gist of what I'm saying: it's not a traditional finance hub. It's good if you like a slow chill place with 'new money' people.
