Mismatch between personality and your job

Hi as you can see from my title I’m an associate working in ECM.

ECM is more of a relationship role and I feel like I’m actually more on the nerdy side and love research more.

Obviously ECM and research is very different in terms of skillsets but has anyone successfully switched from ECM to research?

Are you enjoying research and would you recommend this move?

In a broader sense, does anyone feel there is a mismatch between your job nature and your personality?

Thx!
