MM FIG experience?

Junior who accepted a SA FIG offer at a good MM that has fig recruiting separately (hl/jeff/stifel/piper). Feel like this sub mostly talks about BB or EB FIG but was wondering if any light could be shed on best verticals to focus on and if for exits its worth to lateral to a better FIG group.

I see Stifel less. Rest are all good places to land

  • Jefferies is a tier above the rest but has a bit of a sleazy reputation. Prides themselves in covering companies that the larger banks won't cover for reputational reasons
  • HL is further down market but does a great job at covering companies that are below the threshold of BBs. Seniors are very good. Usually our go-to recommendation for clients that want to do a deal that we know won't clear our minimum fee requirement
  • Piper's growing and active. Lots of deal flow. Somewhat mediocre job in execution

thanks for the breakdown. in terms of verticals, does jeff focus more on spec fin/crypto as the sleazy coverage larger banks wont touch or is it across all verticals? any recommendation on verticals to focus on across all 3 banks?
