MM IB Question
My youngest brother is a rising senior at a SE school that is well-regarded but is not in the Vandy/Emory/etc. category.
What are the thoughts on starting a career at a LMM IB? Decent launchpad? Hard to lateral? Disadvantage due to size? Advantage due to small team, more responsibility? The shop that is interested in him mainly focuses on industrials, consumer, services, and transportation.
He is more into tech, but the odds of him landing a tech-focused role at this point is low.
TLDR; decent or garbage?
I mean, it's better than nothing. I think it would be easier to gain experience and try and lateral to a tech boutique than wait it out and break into tech IB, unless he has direct connections. The SE isn't a tech hub, and you knocked out the schools that are not supplying a lot of talent to the coasts.
Thanks for the insight. I'm not sure how easy of a transition that would be (maybe at the lower levels, it is okay?), but appears to be a better basis than other options.
Can you provide insight to the shop deal flow wise I would assume if he is getting reps its not the end of the world and could be a solid place. I have heard of boutiques rescinding
