Moelis - Houston office

What's their reputation? Good culture / deal flow? Last few posts I saw regarding their Houston office gave the impression that they fly under the radar. What's the scoop? And is the Saudi Aramco IPO advisory out of NY or Houston?

I have some contacts in that group. Culture is apparently really good, at least from what I've seen. They did get crushed pretty hard in 2016 as the junior ranks were a bit light, but the analyst classes have grown and they lateraled three associates in 2017 (lost one or two, though).

Deal flow seems strong. A lot of middle market stuff with a smattering of more prominent engagements. They seem to keep quiet about anything Aramco related. They don't have energy bankers in NY and Houston is the bulk of their energy group worldwide, so I suspect they are involved with the IPO. To what extent, I'm not sure...they do have middle eastern office(s).
