What are the top groups at Morgan Stanley NY? Would it be accurate to say the following are the top groups: M&A, Media & Comm, Transportation, Sponsors, GPUG?

For NY?
Anecdotally have heard that MS Tech NY is also strong and continuing to grow each year - wouldn't necessarily discount it.

Thoughts on FIG?
shitty group. Worst at MS. Avoid at all cost
Is it the hours or culture? I'm interested in doing fintech though. Isn't it only FIG that does Fintech or does Tech cover Fintech as well?

What's so bad about MS FIG? I met some of the team and they seem genuinely good people that care about the team. Is it bad because their comp is lower?

Because it is RE
Real estate is niche and your exits will primarily be in real estate and maybe infra. Some people like that, some people have commitment issues and are addicted to optionality (see the millions of threads about “exit ops”).

Very strong and one of top HC groups on street
How’s transpo?
Just went through placement, most sought after groups are: M&A, Media/Comms, FSG, GPUG.
What about transpo and tech
Transpo is solid, but it seems like they’ve been doing A LOT of business development work as opposed to working on IPOs/M&As/financings
Tech is decent, work on a fuck ton of IPOs

Is power still good?
M&A Media & Comm are usually top 2 but very intense groups. Sponsors, GPUG also popular and better culturally from anecdotes. Other great groups include Transpo and Consumer. FIG and RE usually least desired and rest fall into the middle somewhere.

MediaComms is probably top 3 BB groups on wall street. I'm an analyst at MS FWIW.

Know nothing about the other two honestly but sponsors is sick. Great exits and they never work past midnight and are rarely on on weekends. You can expect 18 hours a day everyday less Saturday in MediaComm.
What about in London ?
Agreed. Exits are stronger than M&A on a per capita basis
