Move to DC

I’m a current first year analyst at a BB in NYC, I am close to 7 months on the desk. I would like to transition to working in the DMV area. I have done a few interviews at a more well known LMM boutique and received a superday but was unable to convert to an offer. What advice do y’all have on approaching this process, especially since my current coverage area isn’t the same as most banks focus in the DC area? How significant of a role does networking play? Would appreciate any insight to those who have successfully pulled this off
