Moving from IB to different sector (from Korea to USA or Canada)
I've been working in Corporate finance (2.6 years) /Portfolio Management (1.6 years) for around 4 years in Korea.
Although I am a US Citizen, my parents are Korean and I lived more than half of my life in Korea. Other half in Canada and USA respectively.
I did some IPO investing/Portfolio management in a mid sized investment bank (managing around 100~200m USD) in Korea and right now I am in the top IB in Korea working in Corporate Finance team.
I know that Korean IB doesn't really count as IB in international market, but I'm trying to figure out if I can go back to States or Canada.
What are the chances that firms in USA/Canada will accept my experience as an IB in Korea? And/or Is it possible to move to different sectors?
P.S. I graduated from university in States and went to Elementary/HS in Canada.
My English is pretty fluent, although I do have minimal accent.
I would appreciate any thoughts or feel free to share if you guys experiences or heard of any similar experience
Hi T.Stark, whoops, looks like nobody chimed in here.... maybe one of these discussions below is relevant:
