Moving from Risk to Front Office?
I’m in a bit of a pickle. I’ve spent the last eight years post college working in risk management specifically non-financial risk such as operational and enterprise risk.
I spent 3 years in Big 4 consulting and other 5 years at a bulge bracket investment bank. I’m currently a VP/head of a risk function for the US. I’m up to make ED equivalent in my team in 2 years but find this work within risk deeply unsatisfying.
While I’m still exploring careers and roles, but I’ve grown to really like M&A and Leveraged Finance roles.
My question to you all is without an MBA will it be possible for me to transition careers into either one of these roles? Willing to take a cut in my comp but also curious which title would I’d be able to come in as (analyst/associate)?
For some context, I’m 29, went to a non-target state university, studied finance and I do not have my MBA.
