Moving from Tech to Sell Side

Hi all,

After undergrad I spent a year at a small VC. Then I landed a quant role at a well known fin-tech. I’ve been here for a little over a year now and now I’m considering IB. I’ve applied for a few positions at BB’s and at a few elite boutiques, but I’ve gotten a very lukewarm response (one BB recruiter got back to me but for a middle office role). Am I barking up the wrong tree? I also considered that maybe just applying online is a bad route because of how sought after these jobs are. Are there any banks that are known for taking people from Tech?

Best, A Chimp

Why would you do this? What are you trying to gain from IB that VC -> Quant doesn’t give you?
