Moving from Trade Ops to IBD/S&T

I graduated last year, in June 2019, with a computer science bachelor. In October 2019, I joined a private bank for a 15 month graduate program on the tech side. Unlike my other peers in my group, I don't want to have a career in Data Science or Software Engineer. I'd like to move to the business side in S&T or IBD.

Because I showed an interest in S&T and had good results throughout my program, I was offered a position in trade ops on a High-frequency trading desk. It seems to me that this position is the one with the most potential WRT to moving to the business side since I will be on the trading floor (other positions being transaction services, database admins, data analyst, and the likes...).

I've spoken to a few people that have made the move from Trade Ops to S&T, so it seems to be possible. Just want to get some opinion here on this topic.
