Morgan Stanley Group Difference for Exits

Will be interning at MS and need to decide groups for next year. I've heard that M&A/M&C are top followed by GPUG/Sponsors/Transportation followed by other groups. How much of a difference in exits are there between these "levels"? Does not being in M&A/M&C prevent you from otherwise getting interviews?

TLDR: Should I let exits determine what groups I try to get into?

Can you explain? I heard that those 5 groups are top with M&A being top followed by M&C at second generally

Exactly M&A may only have first dibs at the very top shops, but other than that, nothing else

Top shops = Apollo, BX, KKR, TPG, H&F, Carlyle - on the first day or so of oncycle

Honestly, would argue GPUG exits are on par with M&A and might edge out M&C in recent/current cycles. Either way, all groups will send you to a good exit and you will have looks everywhere. Culture is probably important to think about. M&A will keep you up till 4am many nights a week.

Is this true? GPUG places that well?
