MS HELP ASAP

Hey guys, have a chance to potentially swim upstream. My contact at MS said that I would be a "good fit," in leveraged & acquisition finance. My contact is a 3rd analyst in IB coverage, and would pass it along to however I'd like. Is it even worth the bother to request m&a? First choice would be tech coverage. Horrible cliche I know, but would it be tough jumping to PE from lev fin? Or would I have to try to move to an m&a focused group afterward? I need to let her know by tonight. This is all in NYC btw. Thanks brothas...

Lev Fin from a top bank like MS should be fine. Your guy says you will be a great fit for LevFin which means that you have an excellent chance of getting the offer if you interview. If you interview with another group where you do not have that contact's support, you are just another candidate they are interviewing. I would trust your contact and interview with LevFin.

Thanks man. She didn't implicitly recommend me to any particular group, just made that statement based on my resume. My long term goal is VC/Growth PE so I don't want to get to far off track, ie I don't want my resume/b-school app to look like a cluster fuck of random finance positions, ie ie like to stay on the generic pre-MBA tech finance track.
