My associate is a brick

I am a first year analyst who just joined the firm in July last year. Got staffed on a live deal and the associate is a goddamn brick - never responds to me not matter how many times I reach out to him, zero collaboration when working on the deck and processing comments from VP/ MD, reached out to him 6 BLOODY times coz I had some questions on a complex financial model but he still completely ignored me. Ended up calling a former employee to teach me stuff.

All that crap about investment banking being "team oriented" when the deal team consists of a goddamn brick. I understand that he might be busy but this has been going on for over half a year and it's not like I ask dumb repetitive questions to waste his time. Versus me working w another associate on another pitch and it was an intense pitch (we all had to stay up till 4am) but at least there was communication between us and we bonded so well - sadly that pitch never went through.. I am so so willing to put in the hard work, grind and learn but it's so frustrating being part of this current deal team.
