I recently started a position in IBD (coverage) at NBFM in Toronto. I am hoping to eventually transfer to the NYC office and then potentially lateral to a more "big name" bank. Does anybody know how NBFM is seen in NYC? Will my experience be seen as valuable?

I’ve never heard of them, so in terms of how they’re seen there’s that to consider. It’s valuable experience, I suspect if you moved to NYC you could lateral to a better firm. Why not try and lateral to a better Canadian bank? RBC is well regarded in the US, I’d say BMO is next then TD and Scotia.
