Need advice - Resubmitting my resume

Discovered a minor typo in the club/societies section of my resume. I have already passed both the numerical and verbal reasoning tests that are required in order to submit the application. If they find the typo (which they will do at some point), it will be an instant ding. Do you guys think I've got a shot at resubmitting my resume if I contact HR? I obviously have to come up with a legitimate reason to do so... Has this happened to anyone before? It would really be a shame if I got dinged because of this since I feel that that I've got a shot a making it.

Would appreciate some constructive advice (I already know that I am an idiot for letting this happen in the first place)

I actually had a typo on my resume when I submitted it to the firm I currently work at. I sent it to HR and assured me that it would be replaced. However the first three rounds of interviews the guys still had the resume with the typo (and all three called it out). It was only at the superday that HR replaced the old resume with the new one.

I think that it will be a ding. But I have found that people usually make an impression of you anyway when they meet you. If you are good, they wont care. But if you are mediocre then the spelling mistake will give them an easy reason to cut you.

I would just email HR with the new resume and say you updated some of the format/wording and change the spelling error. They will catch it eventually and the further on you go the more it will matter.
