NEED ADVICE/GUIDANCE - SWITCHING FROM TECH -> IB - TRANSFERRING TO EMORY UG

Hi monkeys, I have recently decided to (hopefully) pursue a career in banking in nyc(original ik right?). I found out that I like talking to people and like that IBers are able to make an immediate impact. I would like to work in an eb(like evercore or lazard) due to being in small team, better place to build a long term career, and more cash compensation.

The thing is I'm very lost and need some guidance. I am currently an upcoming sophomore transfer(top 30 LAC   -> Emory) student. My previous experience has all been in tech( swe internship at a startup last summer, some projects, all of my freshman course work was math/cs[ Calc 2-3, discrete math, linear algebra, data structures, comp arch, blah blah) (3.7 GPA) ). I was an analyst at my old schools financial club tho.

I will be enrolling goizueta(Emory Business School) next spring by taking some classes this summer. So studying cs/finance

I have currently been cold emailing all small pe/real estate/(preety much any finance) firms in my state/atl/nyc for internships. This hasn't amounted to much except for a phone call next week(but he said they dont have an opening).

Questions that I have

  • When is it too late to get a summer internship for This Summer? If I don't get it, what other activities could I do?
  • I also understand like high tech, high finance's recruiting is early and most major banks are done for next summer program. Are there any banks that are currently recruiting for next summer? And is it worth applying considering my profile.
  • Are business frats worth it? I have seen mixed reviews for them in this forum
  • I also understand the most common and easiest path is the junior internship -> FT offer with junior internship recruiting happening spring of Junior year. When should I start networking and prepping for interviews(case studies>) or is it already too late?
  • Finally, is this feasible? If so what steps should I take to it? Please be honest.

Thank you guys so much.

This summer, nail down your 400qs and once school starts network with seniors and juniors with offers to find out who the "GOATS" of Emory are: i.e. the ones that will pull for kids to get interviews. Good luck getting an internship this summer but probably unlikely. Look on "searchfunder" perhaps. Aside from that, definitley not too late but you will have to learn a ton quickly

Banking is pretty horrific generally. If you’re using it as a springboard to get out then I guess sure but it’s torture.
