NEED HELP WITH MAJOR DECISION.

Background: (I go to a non-target school, but this private school does have pretty well-known national name brand recognition)

It has come time for me to declare my major(s) and I need some advice from anybody who would like to share.

Everyone knows the three main majors to choose from: Economics, Finance and Accounting

I am really thinking I want to double major and my thoughts so far are a double major in Accounting and Economics.

So my question, does this seem like a good idea for a double major combination or are their a better double major combination? Also, should I just only get a single major and drop the double altogether or does it really not matter? Thanks in advance!

Finance and Economics prepare you well. But I also wouldn't over think things. You can't go wrong choosing any of the three. Focus on doing well and having a good GPA.

"I do not think that there is any other quality so essential to success of any kind as the quality of perseverance. It overcomes almost everything, even nature."

Choose whatever will get you the best GPA. Sadly, most banks will choose the 3.8+ with an Econ over a 3.5+ with Econ + another major unless it is a tough major I.e engineering, physics.

I studied Econ and physics not to impress recruiters but because I wanted to know how the world worked from both ends, how the world works in the most literal sense and how it works with social constructs. Make sure you choose the majors that really excite you. That's one of the best ways to ensure you'll do well.

I'm a Finance and Accounting major, so I'm naturally partial to that combo. You can learn a lot of accounting when you start to need it but can't hurt to learn it in advance and in greater depth

You can also get a double major in finance and binge drinking, but that may not be to everyone's taste.

2nd this.

But actually, this would be my recommendation. The biggest thing bankers want to see from a non-target is a high gpa and finance major. Also, which I think is the biggest thing people overlook, while you may go back to school, you will never be an undergrad again. I strongly recommend having as much fun as you can. Definitely make sure you keep the gpa high, but having a 2nd major on your resume should play second fiddle to having the time of your life in school.
