Need your Opinion

Hello WSO,

First off, thanks to WSO for helping me land a BB position in NYC! I've been on the sight for a little over a year and truly learned a lot from the website/active posters.

So my question is what's more important: going to a BB bank of "lesser tier" but have a senior banker (think VP or Director) "go to bat" for you, or go to a BB with a Higher Prestige (think MS/GS). I know a lot of people are going to comment on how prestige is bs and the group your in is more important, and I agree, but assuming all else equal (fit, culture, etc), is having a personal relationship with a senior banker going to "outweigh" the bank's pedigree when it comes to HF/PE recruiting? Also, how much interaction do you have as an analyst with a VP/Director?

When it comes to PE/HF recruiting, how much does your senior bankers relationship affect placement vs. pure headhunter recruiting?

Genuine thanks in advance!
