Negotiating lateral associate/A2A bonus? Other things to consider?
I'm currently AN3 at a shop, expecting to get the associate promote here when the time comes next year. However, I got a verbal offer (and am expecting the official imminently) to move to a new shop as an associate. By leaving, I'd be forgoing my current firm's analyst/A2A bonus, and I know that the new place pays one out as well. Is this something I should be expecting/push for if I don't get it? And is there anything else I might miss/should be prepared to negotiate for in this situation? I'm basically skipping ahead a year in title, so I'm not exactly sure what to be looking out for. Know this is somewhat uncommon of a situation - any insight is appreciated!
If the new place pays one out and you're moving as an ASO, ask for it. Wait until they make you an offer but it's perfectly reasonable to say "My bank pays $X as an A2A bonus, is this something we can work out with signing bonus?"
You're not really skipping a year at all given you're AN3, they should make you whole
