Negotiating Lateral Offer?
Hi yall,
Have recently been lucky enough to receive an offer to lateral to a different IB group (think from regional IB group to GS/MS/JPM). The current offer letter stipulates eligibility for a full year’s bonus in the summer and that they will pay me back any of the sign on bonus my current firm claws back (but only if they claw it back). Everything else (pay, vacation, benefits, etc) are as expected for a current first year analyst. For those out there who have lateraled between IB groups, should I try to negotiate better terms (signing bonus, different/guaranteed bonus, etc) or is this sort of offer pretty standard across the street?
Very standard, any negotiation is really for 1) signing bonus repayment to your old firm, and 2) giving you a full year bonus even tho you’ll be with them for less than a year.
source: just went through process and had a handful of offers
