Neogtiating Salary

I was recently offered a 55K job starting at a MM bank. I wanted to know if its possible / good idea to try to negotiate my salary. (If yes,...how....what should I say /how to neogitate). The bad thing is that this is the only offer I have had so far. I need to give them an answer by this Wednesday.

Also, once I sign a contract / say yes to them, and suppose if I get a better offer some time in the future,..... is it possible to back out from this offer?

Any experienced analysts here?

Negotiating salary as a analyst? I am sure it has been done before but certainly not typical. Remember that you will be receiving a bonus and that it will be larger than your salary. Frankly the person recruiting you will probably laugh at an analyst negotiating his/her salary. What are you going to ask for -- another $10k?

Assuming you are in college, you have plenty of time to make money and your first job really shouldn't center on salary but rather the experience. This is especially true if you only have one offer.
