Networking after 1st round, before superday???

Hey WSO,

I recently got invited to a fairly strong MM bank's superday (think RWB/Jefferies/Stifel).

Question is, is it lame to email an alumni or two at the bank and say "hey, now that an offer seems distinctly within reach, can we chat?" (obviously not in so many words)

Anyone ever tried this or have any insight?

Target btw (okay, fringe target...)

Maybe you should be thinking Jefferies, not Jeffries.

Just message them stating you are going in for superday and really enjoyed everyone you've met so far - can we discuss or chat about the firm's culture/analyst life? Keep it casual.

I did this before a phone interview at a MM. It went really well. He told me a lot about the bank, its activities, and the differences between offices. He also gave me a few pointers for the interview process. After the call, he reached out to HR and let them know that I spoke with him. It was very helpful in advancing in the process and gave me things to talk about for the interviews.

Do it. I also agree with Magneton's suggestion on discussing firm culture, different offices (if you are interviewing for a regional office, or are interested in how offices split work), analyst lifestyle, interview suggestions, etc.

lol BepBep - definitely Stifel... talk about recent mergers (KBW/Miller Buckfire), leveraging ER platform, not having M&A team (at junior levels), taking on more responsibility as a junior and that stuff - they pride themselves on all of that.

Thanks everyone for the great insight.

I was going to ignore this but since it's beginning to derail the thread, it's not stifel...hard as it may be to believe, I was a bit more subtle than to list the actual firm.
