Networking prior to sell day

I’m planning to email 3-5 analysts and associates in total in two teams/groups and set up calls prior to sell day within a BB where I’ll be interning this summer.

How to approach different teams/groups and not sound dodgy? Obviously I cannot say “your group is my top choice” to everyone, but “I’m interested in your group” to everyone may sound a bit dishonest or not serious enough?

Also, are there any particular networking do’s & don’ts I should be careful about amid the COVID-19 pandemic?
