Networking Shenanigans?

When networking is better to just put in the first email that your looking for an internship position? I noticed that a lot of templates suggest asking to set up a call to “learn” about the firm etc... and then “causally” sliding in the internship question into the conversation. Opinions?

I guess it depends on who you are contacting. Personally, I don't mind if they ask me off the bat in the second or third email. It's not like I don't know why you are reaching out anyway.

I don't know... Yeah. Almost definitely yes.
