Networking when transferring?

I recently applied and was accepted to transfer into a semi-target school from Rutgers. However, this past year, I've been networking with alumni from Rutgers. Should I continue to network with them? How should I continue to network with them when the conversations we've had were sometimes about developing a sense of grit from Rutgers?

Also, when should I start networking with Vanderbilt alumni? If I stayed at Rutgers I was going to continue to reach out to people over the summer so that I can hit the ground running for sophomore year but now I'm confused, I want to start building those connections with Vanderbilt alumni but I don't want to seem too gung ho by reaching out before I even get to the school.
