Nice people and kind stories in IB / Finance

There is no shortage of rants on predominantly toxic culture in this space. How about some nice people and kind stories that you have encountered? These might be rare but must exist right? Pls share your stories below if you have met one of those.

From an incoming intern I don’t really have one specific story but have just had a decent amount of pleasant surprises networking. Many of the groups I was talking to had zero alum from my school, and there were definitely some instances where people seemed to look at me different for nontarget bg but there were also many times people with zero relation / reason to help me did a lot for me. Harvard guy being a close contact / looping in non core team. Williams guy looping me with senior connections. Virginia MD inviting me into his office for coffee when I was in town. Cornell MD connecting me with entire team / recruiting lead. Etc etc. It’s easy to focus on the bad stories but looking back there were a lot of good people that took the time to help me out and definitely gave me a different perspective for when I will be on the other side of the process.
