no career database posting after school info session....?
Hi, A number of firms have come to my target school to give info sessions. The recruiters from HR said they would post the jobs in mid December. It is now just a week or two before normal deadlines yet some of these bulge bracket banks have never posted intern positions. About half of the bulge bracket brackets posted listings in November while the other half, many of whom held info session, have not.
can someone tell me: wtf? does this mean they are not recruiting? if so why would they fly everyone from NYC to my school for an info session to not even accept resumes? is there anything I can do? I do not have any HR contact info
I'm at a semi-target and for the BBs at least, all but Deutsche Bank has posted internship positions on the career database.
I would first ask the people at your career center, and the people from the banks who came to give the info session.
There are 2 possible reasons why:
My take is that the firms have no intention of hiring (I could be wrong). CDN is right; a lot of firms will come to campus for the sole purpose of maintain relations with the university.
Can you be more specific? Which school do you go to?
There might be another reason for that and that is they are going to conduct interviews at your school but for business and engineering majors only. For examples, some firms had their info sessions at our school but thy only recruit students who are in the business program so student who are LS&A( They have different career center services) don't get to see these positions at some firms that only recruit business students. Having said that, there are also some firms who recruit students from all majors( Business, LS&A)
contact your career services and ask for the contact information. if they're not recruiting and you ask, no problem. if they are recruiting and you contact them, it could show initiative and place you in good footing.
