No deal flow in first few months, is this normal?
First-year analyst in a mid-ranked group at a big bank. Things have been slow on the origination side, and I haven't had much real deal work yet. What nags at me is the buyside recruiting process down the line, since I'll have to explain a thin resume to headhunters and interviewers. Is it unusual for someone to go a few months without landing on a live M&A transaction? A lot of my friends at other firms always seem to be on something, but I suspect I'm just hearing from the busiest desks rather than the typical experience.
Congrats on UBS!
