No Firm Specific Bonus Threads

Last year was mad annoying that there seemed to be not that many people posting their numbers in the master IB bonus threads and people instead created 3,000 separate threads for firm specific firms of all sizes.

Can we just please do it like always has been done and aggregate in one place what people received? Posting numbers is super helpful for the community and knowledge of how you stack up.

Obvi no one has to listen to me but Jesus it was annoying last year.

Based on the most helpful WSO content, your frustration is shared by many in the community. The consensus is that consolidated threads for bonuses, like the "2022 Analyst 1 Bonus Thread," are far more effective for gathering and comparing data across firms. These threads allow users to see a broader range of compensation figures without having to sift through countless individual posts.

To encourage participation and maintain order, here are a few tips for the community:

  1. Stick to a Master Thread: Encourage everyone to post their numbers (base, bonus, bucket, and firm) in a single, well-organized thread. This makes it easier for users to compare and analyze trends.

  2. Standardized Format: Suggest a simple format for posting, such as:

    • Firm: Name
    • Role: [Analyst 1, Associate, etc.]
    • Base Salary: [$X]
    • Bonus: [$Y]
    • Bucket: [Top/Mid/Low]
  3. Moderation: If possible, have moderators or active users consolidate scattered posts into the master thread to keep things tidy.

  4. Community Reminder: A pinned post or reminder at the start of bonus season could help guide users to the master thread and discourage the creation of redundant firm-specific threads.

By keeping things centralized, the community benefits from a more comprehensive and accessible dataset. Plus, it saves everyone the headache of navigating through a sea of fragmented posts.
