non-2007 graduate has no chance for 2007 analyst program?
I am a 2005 graduate and is trying to break into Investment Bank. I talked to a few recruiters at different BB and they said I am not eligible for 2007 analyst program. Is it true? Or they are trying to test me?
It is true. Consider the MBA route.
Yeah, MBA is the way to pull this off. Banks really do not hire people that do not fit the "profile." Sad but true.
What if you have no work experience and the analyst program would be your first job out of college?
Most likely even worse. They will question why you didn't get ANY job after you graduated, let along an i-banking job. I can think of maybe 2 legitimate explanations that they'd take...
Do you think volunteer work combined with pursuing extracurricular activities that were well thought out would be a red flag? Since I was not techically unemployed and really wanted to pursue such activities before begining my career.
no chance. They've got thousands of people to choose from, they're not going to make exceptions just for you. Wait till you've got an MBA.
Any ideas on how one would break into the industry with a B.S. in a related field from a "target school"/ above 3.0/ great extra-cur/ no internships. Thank you
Talk to your friends. If you're from a target chances are you have tons of friends in IB. Have them buddy up to the college recruiter and convince them to at least give you an initial phone screen.

No problem. People forget that this is an internet messageboard and there's only so much someone can do for you in this medium. Esp if you are at a target, you should have no problem thinking a little creatively to get what you want.
