Non-HYP Ivy Freshman Seeking Summer Opportunities

Hey fellow chimps/monkeys. I've been a frequent observer on Wall Street Oasis since the beginning of high school but this is my first post. I was accepted ED to a non-HYP Ivy and will be double majoring in CS/Economics. I am interested in gaining any practical experience that I can as soon as possible and have been sending out cold-emails to small regional boutiques, as well as search funds. If it helps, I also live in NYC. Is there any advice or recommendations you can give to me as to what I can do this summer to gain practical experience for investment banking? I have purchased/read books such as Liar's Poker and Monkey Business, and I (infrequently) read news outlets such as Bloomberg Businessweek, but I'd really like to attain a position of any sort, regardless of role size, this summer. Thanks guys,

Welcome to the club. I just finished my first semester at a non HYP Ivy. Sent out 400+ cold emails, still haven't landed a summer internships anywhere in NYC. Best of luck to you. Find alumni and make connections. If your family has connection in the banking industry, leverage that.

Breaks my heart when I see young lads so ambitious, and driven to sell their souls...

But seriously, Good job for being aware! Normally I'd recommend doing something fun, and interesting your freshman year, but go for an internship if you truly want it. Might give you an early perspective on the industry. Cold emailing is your best bet, but realize that most places don't like or want freshmans.

I think- therefore I fuck
