Non-Target, Low GPA, good experience, which firms to target for internships?

Hey everyone, as 2026 IB internship recruiting is coming up I wanted to see what my realistic options are in terms of firms to target. I have great experience but a fairly low GPA (it is rising, but will likely still be low until end of spring). I am open to multiple fields including IB, PE, or RE, ideally in an industrials-related sector/focus.

Some info:

- Non-target southeast school, large enough to have a decent alumni network

- Sophomore Finance Major with 3.3 GPA

- Good extracurriculars, including being president of a professional org, as well as leadership roles in finance clubs and professional fraternity. Involved in many top finance-related programs, fellowships, and certifications

- Internship experience at searchfund, signed offer for 2025 at a large MBS-related firm (internship in TX but firm is based on Wall Street)

- Currently working in management role full-time at a very small international RE development firm

What types of firms should I be focusing on for 2026, and how can I best position myself to be competitive regardless of GPA?
