Numerous Candidates from IU Kelley Lying about Diversity Recruiting

There was a thread on here a couple of months ago calling out 2 candidates from IU Kelley that lied about their diversity status to receive offers at EB banks. I'm currently a student at IU Kelley and I can confirm these aren't the only candidates lying about diversity status, and off the top of my head others that have gotten away with it including the following:

  • pretending to be another race who received a SA 2023 offer at a bulge bracket bank
  • pretending to be another race who received a FT 2022 offer at a bulge bracket bank
  • pretending to be another race, currently SA 2022 at EB Bank
  • pretending to be another race, currently SA 2022 at EB Bank
  • pretending to be another race, currently SA 2022 at MM bank

Hopefully, the professors in charge of these programs will stop allowing these candidates to get away with lying about race to boost the school's placement and ranking among Wall Street firms as it makes it extremely unfair to the rest of these candidates' peers who actually need to receive offers through merit.

We don't care if they're underrepresented you pussy. Make it the old fashioned way like every other race out there. Plus, if you really cared about immigrants/low income people, why don't you just adjust the diversity programs to target immigrants and poor people? Ofcourse you're not going to do that, cause that's not really what this is about, is it?

The funniest part of it is that 90% of the "diversity" kids are rich/upper middle class black/hispanic/woman gaming this scam

90+% of Asian kids have immigrant parents many of whom were raised in low income families....Don't you think that Asian kids from low income families are getting screwed over because their skin color disqualifies them from being considered "underrepresented" in college and corporate settings?

The fact that diversity only exists in the context of skin color highlights the superficiality of the corporate world

I've seen tons of "underrepresented" kids who have attended elite nyc private schools normally reserved for the top 0.001% and it's hard to make the case that they're disadvantaged

Nice defense. It's extremely obvious - if someone has a white name, doesn't speak another language and looks white it's pretty obvious no? Looks like a duck + quacks like a duck, it's likely a duck. Just because your 4th generation grandparents was "Latino" that really doesn't count and definitely doesn't allow you to have a "diverse" perspective.

I go to Kelley. Not one of those listed, but I’m a white looking kid with a white last name but my mom is Mexican and has a Hispanic last name so it doesn’t carry down. Whether you think this is just or not, people like me check the box and we are going to use it to our advantage. Be careful making accusations like this.

I think if anything this is impressive lmfao, imagine trolling the system this fucking hard bro

How do you even pull off the gap between white and black? I understand the rest maybe but bro no wonder

I mean you gotta even think about it rationally, how else can a mid ass public school with a solid, but nowhere near Ivy tier program get placements at places like that

Pretending to be black when you're actually white? Sigma male mind set.

Goes to show that diversity turns a non target into a target. Shoutout to the Kelley kids I don’t blame them, sounds like OP is mad they didn’t get a good offer or else they wouldn’t have wasted their time posting this in the first place. Who cares let them live with fact they abused the system that’s on them not you OP

OP responding here - No actually I'm joining a NY BB full-time this summer but will not name the firm in order to preserve my anonymity. I am not jealous or salty about where these kids got offers and I know for a fact it will eventually going to catch-up to them. The reason I am posting is in-order to advocate for my younger peers who are rising sophomores / juniors who will have a much harder SA recruitment process, full-time return offer selection process and eventually a tougher promotion path than all these "fake diversity" candidates. No to mention how you basically need a 4.0 GPA to even get an interview the IU IBW vs every "Diverse" candidate who automatically gets in.

Obviously in the current world that we live in, we need to advocate against the misuse of diversity recruitment anonymously in order to avoid cancel culture.

Fair points and I agree with much of what you said. Although I think the risk these people are taking is already enough and attempting to expose them doesn't benefit you at all, and just harms kids that are abusing an already BS system where "diverse" kids from great backgrounds land diversity programs that give them auto interviews.

Being both diverse and from a good background myself, I feel pretty bad using these programs because I have literally faced no adversity in my life but I automatically have a huge step up. I respect these kids because they are taking a huge risk just to be equal to me on a recruiting standpoint. I would get the whole "they are taking spots away" thing but the spots would've went to privileged "diverse" kids like me anyway (they always do in all 6 banking programs I was in, if you want to talk about that PM me I’ve got receipts). I would argue a white male from IU is more diverse than a mixed kid from Wharton or any other Ivy on wall street. Just my take on it, I've had it way too good to complain because through diversity I was able to land a top BB soph SA and didn't need to rerecruit soph year, that was a HUGE blessing.

Fuck it, let em ball

Controversial

Everyone in the comments trying to dox this kid is a complete cheese-dick. OP is a clown among men for even putting this out there. Snitching anonymously like a total pussy when you could easily settle this with them in person. Total fucking beta move, guarantee OP will be the dude in his intern class that everybody hates and doesn't get a return offer no matter how hard he tries because no reasonable human being wants to be around such a twat.

Ima find out who OP is, lateral to the bank he's summering at and cum in his coffee every morning because I know he'll be too scared to tell on me unless he can do it anonymously .

I

Instead of using ad-hominem and threatening to "cum in my coffee", why don't you offer some form of a rationale solution or middle ground here.

The middle ground is mind your own business and quit being a whiney little bitch. If that's still not enough for you, take it up with someone in the program who can actually make a change. Get a group of your peers and complain to the dean of the school (though I get the impression you don't have any friends). Don't snitch on a bunch of people anonymously online you little pussy. Is that really your ideal response to adversity? Snitch on people anonymously? Pathetic man, learn to be assertive you little pussy.

Also, that's not a threat. I WILL cum in your coffee. And you will do nothing about it besides make an anonymous WSO post "Senior Associate Keeps Cuming in My Coffee - Somebody Please Make it Stop", because you're gay and whiney and lack talent

This is great. Keep lying about your diversity status, kids!

OP - You’re a pussy and I hope you get your ass kicked.

Translation: "Yeah kids, keep lying and exploiting a broken system, who cares about morals now-a-days. OP fuck you for having integrity and actually succeeding through legit merit I hope you get your ass kicked"

Oh how far American society has fallen

Lying about Diversity is extremely common at IU. My boy is apart of the IBW and needed a 4.0 to even get interviews at BB/EB. He told me that 1 in every 5 student caps. What typically happens is these kids realize they aren’t competent enough to compete with the rest of non diversity students and take spots away from people who would benefit from it. It’s pathetic

Whoever decided that name dropping the professor was a great idea you are sorry asf. A man’s career shouldn’t be at stake due to the incompetence of whack state school students.

Everyone justifying this and using it as an an “own” against the system clearly don’t have properly functioning frontal lobes or the actual qualities to get offers at these firms. Diversity recruiting is used for the benefit of realigning these firms with the actual makeup of the US today and not a 1960s caricature out of a Mad Men scene. Esp since these firms have literally been responsible for the incessant poverty that plagues underrepresented communities, it’s the least they can fucking do to “make things right.” Def agree that black/Latino kids that went to private boarding schools or never experienced real adversity due to a privileged upbringing may unfairly gain an advantage over working class whites/others, but have some fucking class and do it yourself (You’ve had 400 years to do so).

Liberals are the biggest racists. What, blacks and latinos are too retarded to get into IB without cheatcodes so we have to design special programs for them to get in? 75 years ago the Japanese were put into internment camps on US soil and the Chinese were still starving farmers living under Mao's dictatorship. Yet as far as I can tell Asians don't have issues doing well in interviews - of course, as long as they're not actively discriminated against because they represent the minority liberals don't want to see, that is, the minority that succeeds without any undue advantage.

You do realize implicit racial biases are inherent in every system, particularly when they were never meant to include those “types” of people in the first place. Blacks and Latinos suffer from the greatest social, economic, and political disadvantages of any race due to centuries of discriminatory policies and general unconcern for their plight. Government funding for HBCUs continues to be lackluster and the students there probably wouldn’t even get looks if it weren’t for diversity programs. You bringing up Asians only further perpetuates the model minority myth and is a cop out for actually addressing the realities of minorities in this country. Maybe if you stop looking at things through the gaze of the white guy that got left out and use logic + historical/economic data, you’ll be able to see what I’m saying.

I'm half-latino (Mom is from South America). Both of my parents are first-generation immigrants. Spanish was actually my first language. When I was young, my parents stopped speaking to me in Spanish because I was falling behind in school and not learning English fast enough. I then grew up in a white community and was ashamed of my Spanish heritage because I felt different, so I never tried to re-learn speaking it, although I can understand everything. I know I'm bringing a different perspective/viewpoint and am at the top of my intern class so far. Am in the process of re-learning Spanish but will probably take me 1-2 years to get there.

But yeah since I look "white", have a "white" last name, and don't speak Spanish fluently the guy who made this post would probably say I'm a fake latino and don't deserve to be there.

If these kids are blatantly lying, fuck them. But if you don't have the full picture or the full details, don't say anything. I saw on that kid's LinkedIn he grew up in Mt. Vernon, which is a super poor area of New York with a huge latino population. How do you know his Mom isn't Spanish?
