I don't like the guy, but I have to say it's nice to have a President with a genuine sense of humor after 8 years under a fucking moron who thought it was funny to joke about phantom WMD's which cost thousands of American troops their lives.

I'm as conservative as they come, but Obama is SO much better for America than Bush.

Eddie, you know I champion your contribution to this site and typically agree with most of your positions but what you just wrote is just flat out disingenuous. I have never seen a president that is more connected to our military than President Bush is and was. Bush knows his decisions have cost Americans their lives and that isn't something he takes lightly.

When's the last time you've seen a former president spend his time greeting soldiers who are coming off deployment...2 years after he's left office, especially when he has no political aspirations? To my knowledge, President Bush has never joked about the sacrifices that our soldiers have made and I would appreciate it if you either didn't say/suggest it, or provide evidence.

As a military veteran I know how I feel about Bush and it couldn't be any different from that of Obama. At least with Bush I felt like I would never be left out to dry should something have gone very sideways when I was deployed...I don't get that feeling with Obama and would never willing serve under him. I feel he is just too self centered and I question whether he would put his ego, approval ratings and international perception before the lives of American soldiers. Maybe you feel different, but I find it hard to believe.

Also, how is this country better off now than it was with Bush? What metrics are you using to measure?

Regards

What metrics are you using? Greeting soldiers?? There is no discussion when it comes to who was / is a better President Bush or Obama...lets be real here. Bush went aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln to deliver a televised "MISSION ACCOMPLISHED" speech say major combat in Iraq in ended May 2003. Its May 2011 and we are still there...

Back to the topic at hand. Trump got roasted by Obama hard and it's good to see the president show a sense of humor.

What does being a veteran have to do with anything? I was part of the initial strikes on Iraq and I think Bush was a dumbass. Having that guy at the helm was a small part of the reason I got out. And I know exactly what joke Edmundo is talking about. Bush did indeed joke about looking for WMDs and not finding them at a WH Corespondents Dinner.

@5:30:

Veterans, like all citizens, have differing opinions. So I would appreciate you not acting as an unelected spokesman. If you ask me, Bush's adoration for the military was partially propaganda before and largely guilt now. But that's just my opinion, I know other veterans might feel differently.

Seth Meyers after that was pretty funny too.

"Donald says he's running as a Republican, but I thought he was running as a joke."

12:00 - 15:00 Donald is so mad.

Cph a lot of soldiers also prefer obama to bush. Highest respects to you for serving, but just because a president is friendly to his troops does not make him a good president. I think most of us would agree that while obama isnt perfect bush was a poor president who severely damaged our international rep. Having gone to diff countries i can attest that most of them hated bush ans are indifferent to obama.

Maybe so, but I know far more soldiers that approve of Bush than they do of Obama...but that is merely anecdotal.

I'm not saying that our international reputation doesn't mean anything, but I guess I just don't care too much about whether Canadians, Europeans, et al. like Americans and whether they approve of out president. We are the greatest nation on the face of the earth, we should be focused on maintaining that status, not having a highly populated FB page. We will always be hated by someone because the US can do nothing right in the eyes of the international community. If we take some sort of action some people will agree with it and others won't...of the ones that do, some will complain it took us too long or we weren't committed enough to the cause, etc.

The bottom line is we will never gain the approval of everyone so we shouldn't worry about it and it certainly shouldn't be a yardstick by which we measure whether or not we have a good or bad president.

I am quite certain that most of the military prefers Bush to Obama. Andy by most, I mean an overwhelming majority.

djrchrist cph can you just keep this thread to the jokes please?

Start your own thread to discuss this or continue it on the Donald is a idiot thread. It's getting kind of old.

I'm sorry I upset you. Do you need me to rub your back while you fall asleep??

Quite being an ass. Eddie clearly took this from being a funny thread, I merely addressed his post.

Sorry Patrick broke into your house and is holding you a gun point forcing you read every thread and every post within those threads.

YourWorstEnemyBush Knocked down the towers, Unowhatimsayin?

This is incredible, no joke but I was listening to that song as I read this. What are the chances? Probably the first time something like that has ever happened to me. Immortal Technique and Mos Def are great.

cphbravo:

Your intuition and vague anecdotal evidence clearly prove your case. I'm glad you were able to show us that Obama doesn't care about the troops and Bush does. Thanks for telling us this and providing such wonderful insight.

Blah, blah, blah.

I was going to respond to all the facts and evidence that you provided...but none of that ever showed...I wonder why?!? Since you apparently missed my previous post...just as recent as a few months ago President Bush was at an airport terminal in Texas greeting soldiers that were coming off of deployment.

Your turn Jack.

I don't know how to look at this:

Great the president has a sense of humor and therefore he's the best president we've had. OR

Is the president supposed to look like a stand up comedy dude???

I'm not sure. Most likely it's great that he's able to keep things fresh, but in the end of the day that's not his job and in public he needs to be about business not jokes. This is simply a great PR move to gain popularity for the upcoming elections.

Not to mention, he just read the jokes that someone wrote for him...I doubt he actually spend hours making this shit up...or maybe???

Do what you want not what you can!

Dude cph give it a rest, it's getting quite old.

We understand you don't like Obama, but badmouthing him on every thread isn't winning anyone over.

Also, the way you type is really annoying.

The dude has a reagan quote in his signature. He's obviously a troll. Just ignore what he says and he will go away. It's really not that hard.

RiskyBizness,

That's exactly the clip to which I was referring. To invade a country under false pretenses and then joke about the lie that cost thousands of American soldiers and hundreds of thousands of Iraqi civilians their lives is utterly beyond the pale.

The Idiot King should have been impeached and horse-whipped, not necessarily in that order.

Full disclosure: I voted for him in 2000 and it's become the most shameful vote of my life.
