On the Cusp...
Hi,
I superdayed at a regional boutique on Tuesday of last week and I thought the interviews went really well. Since my contact there told me to "stay put as they are still deliberating," however, I am starting to believe that I am on the cusp in their minds. In other words, they may have even given out a few offers already, and they're waiting to see if they will have room for me for the summer.
In your opinion, is there any way I can "better my case" with them at this point? I am very interested in the firm.
I honestly don't think there is anything you can do at this point to improve your chances. As you said, they have already ranked you relative to the other interviewees. Maybe send them some thank you notes/emails if you haven't already. Good luck.
That might push them towards wanting you more/making a decision faster (or backfire, but that seems unlikely)
