Optimal Distance

What do you guys think is the optimal distance to live from work?

I'm going to be working in Midtown next year and I was wondering what the furthest/shortest distance I should/could live from the office would be. Only been to NYC twice for a total of less than 20 hours...

Thanks for the help!

i work in midtown too.

i live 10 min away walking, and it's pretty sweet.

try to find a place within 15 blocks in my opinion. even though you can expense a cab late at night, it's always nice to be able to walk to work when you want to. you also don't want to live ridiculously close -- it's nice to have a change of scenery.

Either get within walking distance or focus on living on the east or west side of the island depending on where your building is (ie Eastside get close to a 6 train)
