Other Analyst Does Everything

The deal teams where I work are always thin. On the specific deal I am talking about right now it is me (~6 months on the desk), a senior analyst, a VP and an MD. As the person with least experience I understand that I will have be given the least responsibility especially since I haven't met anyone I'm working with in person. However, the senior analyst on the deal I am working on seems to try and take every piece of work given by my MD and VP. I will consistently tell him I am here to help and that I am free and can spend time on whatever the task is, but he always says he will just do it himself. All of the materials I have created have been accepted with praise and I get along with the members of my team well, I just don't understand why the senior analyst doesn't let me do more to help out sometimes. Should I just be grateful because this means I have less work to do? On one of the past deals I was staffed on the senior analyst would always give me work to do with little guidance and I honestly appreciated that more. Really feel like I'm falling behind/not learning as quickly as I should because he is doing the majority of the work and not letting me help.
