Outlook/opinions on Piper Sandler’s energy group (formerly Simmons & Co)
Making this thread as I haven’t seen any recent posts pertaining to this group. Would love to hear more about them / how it compares to other mm shops in houston.
Honestly, seems like a shell of their former self. Looks like they mostly have been doing some dinky deals.
MM shop with limited brand name outside of Texas and weaker exits vs when it was Simmons
junior guys I know weren’t happy with transition from Simmons to Piper (culture and pay)
probably on the same level as WF / Greenhill / RBC in Houston
probably below RBC given recent deals
Haven’t seen them on any meaningful deals recently. Anecdotally heard that first year analysts got 100k bonuses this past cycle.
