PE firms and GS/MS/JPM
So today, I got bored and started looking around at some of the MF and top MM PE firms. I looked over the management teams and saw all the analysts that the firms took when that information was available, and what I found was a little confusing. There's always so much hype surrounding GS/MS/JPM, but I honestly saw way more people from places like Barclays, the elite boutiques, and UBS. Am I missing something? I mean I know all the BBs are good, but I mean I thought the placement of those "top three banks" was pretty dim compared to anything I would have expected.
A lot of GS/MS/JPM analysts end up at megafunds (e.g. KKR) that don't list their associates on their websites. There's also the fact that a top group at a mid-tier bank (e.g. Citi M&A or BAML Lev Fin) might place better than a run-of-the-mill industry group at a top BB.
