Philosophy in Australia
I saw the other guy's thread about studying classics or philosophy in the UK and it had me wondering if the same was possible in Aus. Would Majoring in Philosophy or Latin from a GO8 like USYD or UNSW still work or even help me stand out. I understand it isn't the same as doing it at Cambridge but those subjects interest me more than the typical comm classes.
Unrelated but how do you survive against the bugs in aus?????
The truth is the bugs aren't that bad. If you don't piss them off they don't mess with you even in the rural areas. Magpies are the real danger to society.
You will be okay in Australian financial institutions I guess. I think make sure you have some statistical modules and study what you enjoy. Get good with excel. There are grad schemes that will take you regardless of subject if you’re what they want. Finance degrees do give you a head start tho imho.
No
studying 'classics' in Australia is a sure fire way to get zero (like literally zero) interest from any IBs. Even if you were a university medalist, you would seriously struggle.
The Go8s are not Cambridge. Anyone can go to USYD or UMelb. Aussie banks expect you to have good financial knowledge (unless you're a girl going for an internship) and at least study commerce, law or engineering style courses.
