Confirmed. AS2 moving to $175. Not sure about AS1.
Second the confirmation, 100% true.
Pretty cool of piper tbh, wouldn't have expected this at all from them, and them doing it likely means other banks will follow suit.
This is the first time I've ever seen Piper be a leader in anything comp / benefits / culture related instead being a follower.
AS2 moving to $175k? That was already street comp before last year. Was Piper paying below street?
Typical associate progression is like this
AS0 - $150k
AS1 - $150k
AS2 - $175k
AS3 - $200k
I think they meant A2 as a 1st year associate (i.e. after stub). I have heard some people call it that and would make more sense considering $150k > $175k.
Is this a true salary bump, or are they just shifting some bonus to base?
Either way it's a salary bump. I think you mean a total increase in compensation. Even if it's not a total comp increase, increasing the fixed portion of comp is always better than relying on the subjectiveness of the variable portion of comp.
Of course, but a shift to base isn't nearly as nice as an increase in all-in comp, which I'm guessing the firm will try to portray this as
Idk why some of these guys are complaining on here. I'm a 3rd yr analyst and make less than Piper 1st yrs
So third year analysts are payed 150 base from completion of second year to January following stub year at which point they become AS2 and get bumped to 175?
Apparently…
That's correct, a lot of banks are doing this now.
How much do third year analysts make exactly?
Third years were $125 so assume that got bumped

Cross your fingers. I hope so too
Cross your fingers.
Any news on whether the London / UK Piper offices are receiving salary bumps?
