Career Resources
While Pitt may not be a target school, a quick LinkedIn search shows some impressive placements for Pitt students. BB and EB placements may not be the norm, but are evidently doable if you work hard enough for them. And if all else fails, PNC probably targets Pitt students and they have a DCM group if you're interested in that.
Exactly. I just did a quick search on lnkd. Immediately found 2 analysts in FIG and an associate in industrials all at various BB banks. I'm sure there are many more individuals out there as well.
Was in your shoes 5 years ago at Pitt. Most people who want into IB have to network as much as they can as no on campus recruiting takes place. Look at the internship at stone pier capital. Take valuation as an elective and try and show your interest in the markets. If you need any tips DM me.
In my experience there there's not much as far as OCR but anything is possible if you keep your GPA high and network. I've known of people working at PNC, KeyBanc Capital Markets, etc type banks and also I knew of a few people working at McKinsey from Pitt after graduation (although those people were like the 4.0 and checking every extracurricular leadership box imaginable types). As far as reputation, I'm sure it's on the same level as any other school not in the typical recruiting pipeline.
Agree with all of the above.
Harris Williams, BGL, KBCM are all in CLE. It's only a short trip there to network for a day.
A few PE groups around Pittsburgh that you could network with too.
Placement isn't strong, but I guarantee you if you reach out to some of the alums they would be more than happy to chat / put in a good word. You'll just have to be much more proactive as there is zero on-campus recruiting.
