Pivoting from an unsexy (to me) group (ECM/DCM)
Landed the RO at a BB in a group that does not really model or have exits. I had amazing feedback and spent the summer speaking with people in another group that indicated there might be room to make a switch. When the summer ended it turned out they did not have a headcount need and I ended up signing with my current group.
I really don't want to do this forever, but worry that any perceived lack of enthusiasm might make me first on the AI chopping block if hiring is weak. For context, I loved the people on my team and had a great summer, but felt little interest in it intellectually and don't think it lines up well with my longer term goals.
What advice would you have for someone in my shoes? What should I spend my senior year doing?
