Placement - League Table Prestige OR Intellectual Curiousity

Monkeys,

Have another question today and this is somewhat short and sweet. I did a search and didn't find many threads that frankly asked this scenario. (disclosure: this IS NOT a present scenario I AM dealing with however, all of my buddies have expressed dealing with this decision among the placement process, in some way or another- trying to proactively prepare.)

IF I find myself between lets say two groups...

G1. One is SIGNIFICANTLY more prestigious from a league table and street rep perspective than another, BUT said group has questionable culture and the quality of the work is interesting but not stimulating to me. Placement is awesome - KKR etc., but people leaving are glad they are.

G2. Another group, not very prestigious but dammit I love learning about (insert IB buzzword here). The culture is great too, but placement is questionable and a lot of people stay on for the associate role - BUT don't seem mad about it.

(For the sake of argument: lets pretend this is at a top BB like a JPM. I feel the bank rep is overall great I am just trying to boil down group substance-based decisions right now.)

Again, this is hypothetical. All of my buddies for the most part dealt with this loosely and have justified it in their own ways. I wanted to post this because with placement around the corner I would like to have as much opinions on this as possible. I also felt I could receive more A1-blunt-reality responses via WSO that I may not receive from those same above mentioned buddies, who all seem to simultaneously try and save face even though I would have zero fucking incentive in telling people what they say to me.

Thanks guys.
